Thank you for considering one of our many artists for your commissioned artwork. Here are some things to consider when requesting commissions of an artist.

1. Privacy - Your privacy and that of the artist involved is important to us. If you wish, you can use the private message or PM option to speak to an artist privately. Sometimes people have personal real life images they'd like to use as a starting point for a piece of artwork. You are not obligated to share these openly on the message boards.

2. Clarity - Many times when someone wants to commission a piece of art, they don't know what they want right away. Take a look at the many styles available by our artists. You can see some of their artwork here in the Artist Samples forum, or you can view more at http://eroticillusions.com/free.html where many of our artists maintain free preview sites and where you will find links to our free galleries. Have at least some idea of what you'd like to get from your commissioned piece of art, whether it's the genre, style or posing/figures involved before making a solid approach to an artist.

3. Transactions - Commissioned artworks are contracts between the artist and the customer. Stormbringer Enterprises and its subsidiary sites are not responsible for any transactions involving money, favours or other things artists and customers may agree to as payment for a piece of artwork. Be clear on what your budget is and what you expect for your money, and keep your finances safe. While we can vouch for our artists' respectability, we can't offer legal protection if a transaction goes awry. Both artist and customer should take the necessary steps to keep themselves and each other safe in this happy transaction.

4. Content - Some artists work in a specific genre and some are very broad ranging. Not every artist is going to want to do the picture a customer wants commissioned, nor will they have a desire to apply a specific style to that picture or request. Keep in mind that art is creativity and freedom of expression, something we heartily support and work towards with the majority of SBE's sites. Any artist has the right to politely refuse a commission request, and any customer has the right to withdraw from a transaction - prior to payment - if the artist is not interested in providing what's being requested. Not every artist wants to do vore, or gore, or bondage. And not every customer is going to understand the nuances of details and lighting and direction for an image. Respect the differences each other might have and if a transaction is not working out, consider another artist. Most likely the first artist of choice will be grateful to not have to bend their style or genre wishes and will not be insulted if handled politely. And customers want the most for their dollar, we all know this and respect this and allow them the chance to move on to find what they're really after.

5. Openness - Feel free to participate in an open conversation with several artists at once about what you're looking for. A customer has a right to the best product possible and many artists appreciate healthy competition. Discuss your idea openly if you like and see who is interested. An interested artist who is intrigued by the actual offer and idea will ultimately provide the best piece possible in the end.

6. Fairness - Remember that although for many starving artists, decisions are made by the almighty dollar, many still have their quirks and foibles and special eclectic or eccentric personalities and mannerisms. Be fair when you can be, because at SBE, we like to believe our artists work hard on every piece. Some turn out quicker than others, admittedly. Many take days, or require more than one computer program or system to create. Treat the artists of your choice fairly, allowing them the time they ask for. Have faith in the process. And enjoy every step! You're going to end up with something ultimately unique and just for you! That's an amazing thing!

Enjoy your commission!
